A season of Trust
Ecclesiastes 3:1 - 4 “to everything there is a season, and a time to
every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up (harvest) that which is
planted;” I love Autumn for a whole host of reasons: the beautiful colour of the
trees, the falling leaves, the walks with coats on, apple tarts, hearty
soups, and that feeling of preparation for a new church year. As I write this our Harvest season is all but over and we are moving
into communion season. Next thing it will be Remembrance Sunday, then Advent and you and I both know what that means!
As you look at the calendar of important dates in this issue of “The
Way” you will see that we have a fairly busy run-in until Christmas and the New Year.
It has been a busy year, with times of joy as well as times of immense sorrow, but what will this autumn and winter bring us in the
way of nasty surprises and wonderful blessings? We don’t know. We could try and look for signs but that isn’t always
useful.
